Keder Size Guide

Choosing the right keder size depends on the rail system, fabric type, application, installation method and required strength. The most important dimensions are the keder diameter, flap width, fabric thickness and roll length.
For the best fit, Kedermaker recommends checking the rail dimensions first and confirming the application environment before selecting a keder profile.

Keder Diameter

The keder diameter is the rounded part that slides into the rail or track. If the diameter is too small, the fabric may not hold securely. If it is too large, the keder may be difficult to install or may not slide smoothly through the rail.
When requesting a quote, please provide the internal size of your rail, an existing keder sample or a drawing of the track profile.

Flap Width

The flap is the fabric section attached to the keder core. Flap width affects how the keder is welded or sewn to the fabric panel. Wider flaps may be useful for heavy fabrics, large fabric panels or applications that require more bonding area.

Fabric Type and Weight

Different coated fabrics require different keder constructions. PVC coated fabric, tarpaulin fabric, printable textile and marine canvas may have different thickness, stiffness and welding requirements. Matching the keder construction to the fabric helps improve production efficiency and final performance.

Application Environment

Outdoor applications may require UV resistance, weather resistance, fire-retardant materials or stronger bonding. Tent, awning, marine and tarpaulin projects often require more durable keder than short-term indoor display applications.

FAQ:

Q: How do I choose the right keder diameter?
A: Start with the rail or track size. The keder diameter should fit the rail securely while still allowing smooth installation.

Q: Can Kedermaker make custom flap widths?
A: Yes. Kedermaker can manufacture custom flap widths based on your fabric, welding method and application requirements.

Q: What information should I send for a quote?
A: Please send the keder diameter, flap width, material, color, roll length, quantity, application and rail dimensions. Photos, drawings or samples are helpful.
